Don't get me wrong, the kids love MAME, and since we were given the PS, I thought I might be able to get some other games for it as well. I just really don't know anything about PS. i figured since everyone has updated since the PS came out, that I'd be able to get some good cheap games, for something else to do. I really don't even know what's available.

You are the "kid" I was talking about, not your REAL kids.

I really don't know anything about them, but our next door neighbor gave a sony playstation to the kids, and I need to know what will play in it. Are there specific games just for that, or will anything work, such as playstation II games? I'm guessing that it will only take regular playstation games. Since I already have a MAME cabinet and they have their gameboys, i don't want to spend a bunch of money on PS games. Since they have come out with PS II, would the regular games be pretty much outdated?
If so, anyone know where to get some cheap used games for it? Thanks, but I'm a newbie to this.

Playstation 2 games won't work in a Playstation.
You can get tons of cheap playstation games on ebay, best thing to do is do a google search for the best Playstation games and then try and find them on ebay.
The games will be a bit outdated but they'll still be good if you get the right ones (i.e. the good ones)

Recommended PS1 games:
Pro Evo Soccer
Gran Turismo
Metal Gear Solid
WipeOut series
All 4 still look and play fantastically.

Thanx for the info.
One other question. I know you can't play PS2 games on a regular PS, but is it possible to play PS games on a PS2? I was just wondering if people keep the games once they've upgraded to a PS2. Either way, I'll be looking for some of these recommendations.
Thanx.

In short, yes. There were some rumours a while
back about the 'slim' PS2 not playing PS1 games,
but I've never had any trouble.

Oh, and don't forget the old school way of
getting the PS1 to work if the lazer gets
stuck or whatever: turn it upside down and
reboot.
One presumes that the PS3 will play everything?
Hopefully it'll also allow gamers to use the regular
controllers, because the new ones look 'kin
horrible.
